Resilience building

Resilience building is an important part of stress management and whilst some people are naturally more resilient than others, it is a skill and it can be taught. Resilience is often defined as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy or significant distress. This ‘bouncing back’ from these difficult experiences not only empowers you to learn and grow but can often enable change in all areas of you life.

In therapy we can work on your resilience building skills;

  • Help you to make connections, help others

  • Accept change is part of living

  • Take decisive actions, be proactive

  • Nurture a positive view of yourself

  • Maintain a healthy outlook

  • Avoid seeing crisis as insurmountable problems

  • Move towards your goals

  • Look for opportunities for self discovery, find a purpose

  • Take care of yourself ( Diet, exercise, Sleep)

  • Keeps things in perspective

We can use a variety of coping skills, mindfulness, self-hypnosis, relaxation and ACT techniques to help build your resilience. Imagine not just coping with life’s stressors, instead thriving and looking at stressful events as challenges to be overcome. You cannot control all aspects of life’s challenges but we can work together to give you more skills to work on those you can change.
